A pedestrian badly injured when he was hit by a bus in Glasgow city centre is believed to fallen onto the path of the vehicle while emptying his car.
The 50-year-old man was struck by the single decker bus about 8.45am on Thursday, at Queen Street. Police said he had parked his car outside his work when he appears to have stumbled while retrieving items from the boot of the vehicle.
Strathclyde Police said his condition at Glasgow Royal Infirmary is serious but stable. Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
A spokesman said: "The 50-year old man parked his car in a parking bay outside his work premises in Queen Street, when it appears he stumbled and fell and collided with a single decker bus as he went to retrieve some items from the boot of the car.
"Emergency services were contacted and the man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he is recovering from his injuries.
"Road Policing officers have been investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the accident to contact their office on telephone number 0141 532 6443."
