A French tourist has appeared in court charged with causing the deaths of two Harley Davidson biking enthusiasts killed in a crash on the A9.
Roland Jean Jacques Bayon, 60, is accused of causing the deaths of husband and wife Peter and Jacqueline Corris, from Lancashire.
He appeared in private on petition at Inverness Sheriff Court on Thursday afternoon. Bayon, of Bourg-de-Peage in France, made no plea or declaration and was released on bail.
Mr Corris, 54, and his pillion passenger wife, 53, had been enjoying a holiday in the Highlands on the weekend of the Thunder in the Glens gathering in Aviemore, which attracted over 2,000 Harley Davidson enthusiasts.
Their motorbike and a car were in collision near Drumochter, three miles south of Dalwhinnie at around 10.45am. The emergency services attended and found Mr and Mrs Corris dead at the scene.
All four of the car's occupants had to be cut free from their vehicle by firefighters. They were all flown to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness by air ambulance and an RAF Sea King rescue helicopter from RAF Lossiemouth, with two suffering serious injuries.
