Plans unveiled for major Borders wind farm

Plans have been unveiled on Wednesday for another major wind farm in the central Borders.

Coventry-based E.On Climate Renewables want to erect up to 21 turbines on farm land between the villages of Westruther and Gordon.

They have applied to Scottish Borders Council for planning permission for the Corsbie Moor development.

However, as the wind farm will have a capacity of more than 20 MW, the final go-ahead will need to come from the Scottish Government.

E.On say they plan to hold a number of public exhibitions in the village halls of Gordon and Westruther, Earlston and Lauder this Autumn to explain their plans in greater detail.

It will actually the SBC who will decide on the planning application and not the Scottish Government. The Scottish Government only approve project over 50MW or about 25 standard turbines.

Thank you, that is correct Davie Boyd! My name is Matilda Urie and I am the project developer for the potential Corsbie Moor Wind Farm. Another error I noticed in this article is the statement that we have "applied" already. People should know that we are months away from being ready to submit an application.

If anyone has questions or comments about the potential wind farm at Corsbie Moor they are more than welcome to write to me at matilda.urie@eon.com

    Thank you!
