Culture Minister Fiona Hyslop is to stress the Scottish Government's support for the video games industry when she visits two of its leading firms on Tuesday.
Ms Hyslop will be in Dundee to meet bosses at gaming companies Tag and Dynamo, which have recently received investment from the Digital Media IP Fund. The city is seen as a major hub of the industry.
However, it suffered a major blow last month when one of its leading firms, Realtime Worlds - the developer of Grand Theft Auto - went into administration.
The firm employed about 250 people, largely at its main development operations office in Dundee, but also at its parent company head office and online operations base in Colorado.
The Digital Media IP Fund is jointly financed by Scottish Enterprise and the Creative Scotland Innovation Fund.
It is an initiative that encourages co-investment from the private sector to generate revenue for Scottish-based companies.
Ms Hyslop will also address the Digital Spark Intellectual Property conference at Abertay University.
The event is aimed at bringing together industrialists, lawyers, financiers, funding agencies, intermediaries and policy makers to discuss recent developments in intellectual property law.
