A gang of up to 40 youths were involved in a mass disturbance at a KFC restaurant in Dundee.
A group of teenagers entered the premises in the city's Camperdown Leisure Park and started overturning chairs.
Staff locked the doors - but the group proceeded to kick and punch the door and windows, shattering the glass door and a window.
It is believed that one of the members of the group was carrying a metal pole.
Tayside Police officers rushed to the scene, and the teenagers immediately dispersed.
A spokeswoman for the force said they were trying to identify the youths responsible.
She added: "Police will maintain high profile patrols in the area. Anyone who witnessed the incident take place, or anyone who can identify any of the individuals involved, should get in touch with Tayside Police on 0300 111 2222."
