Health bosses set up team to investigate Dundee suicides

Health bosses in Dundee have set up a team to investigate a spate of suicides in the city.

Professor Tony Wells, chief executive of Tayside Health Board, said he is chairing a "multi-agency" team looking at all the information surrounding the series of "unfortunate deaths".

Professor Wells insists the suicide trend in the Tayside region has been down in recent years.

However, his team is currently meeting weekly given recent events.

Speaking at a meeting of Tayside Health Board, he said: "Clusters of suicides are not uncommon.

"They are well documented across the world, often with no good reason for them as far as you can see.

"But we need to satisfy ourselves that there are no circumstances that we need to action or investigate further in Tayside."

my heart goes out to all families involved with this, but when people who are trying to get help because they are suicidal the psychologists are telling them there is nothing they can do, and if you do put in a complaint, they are then told they don't need to be doing this. So where are these people desperate for help meant to go.

It's about time the nhs mental health department in dundee was investigated.
