Police are appealing for witnesses after a 31-year-old man was killed on the A82, near Luss, on Saturday night.
The man, who was apparently walking along the southbound carriageway of the road, was hit by a white vehicle at around 10.30pm.
The 41-year-old driver of the vehicle was uninjured but the struck man was taken by ambulance to Paisley's RAH hospital where he died a short time later.
Constable Colin Scott from Dumbarton Police Office appealed for witnesses, saying: "At this time we are working to piece together the young man's movements and trying to establish why and how he came to be on the A82, near Luss.
"This incident appears to be a tragic accident, and we would be grateful for any witnesses to come forward."
Police are particularly interested in tracing a couple who stopped at the scene shortly after the incident occurred but did not leave any personal details.
Anyone who witnessed the road crash is asked to contact the Roads Policing department on 0141 532 6400.
