Tens of thousands of people gathered in Glasgow today for the start of the World Pipe Band Championships.
More than eight thousand pipers and drummers battled it out on Glasgow Green to make it through to the next round of the competition.
Organisers say demand for tickets was stronger than ever, and thankfully the rain stayed off for the record crowds.
The World Pipe Band Championships 2010 also plays host to the Drum Major competition, Highland Dancing, Glasgow World Highland Games.
THE WINNERS:
- St. Laurence O' Toole are crowned 2010 World Champions
- Ravara Pipe Band continue their winning streak
- The winners 2008 performance at the Cowal Championships
Visitors will get to enjoy a world record attempt at The Heavy Lift and an expanded children's zone featuring Hamleys Toy Store.
A traditional Scottish Food Market with displays from the Food Standards Agency is also being introduced this year.
