Woman critically injured when car collided with digger now recovering

A woman who was fighting for her life after her Jaguar crashed into a digger on Thursday is now recovering from her injuries.

The woman, who is in her 50s, suffered serious injuries when her vehicle crashed on the A90 Aberdeen to Peterhead road on Thursday.

Grampian Police initially described her injuries as "life-threatening" but on Friday said she is recovering in hospital.

Firefighters spent almost an hour battling to cut the woman free from the wreckage of the Jaguar XF she was travelling in at the junction of the A975.

Two fire crews from Peterhead and one from Ellon attended at the scene.

Another woman suffered chest injuries, while two others had seatbelt injuries. All four were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment

The road was closed for several hours to allow a crash investigation to be carried out.
