Police searching for a mother who has been missing from West Lothian for over a week have found a body.
Heather McKay had been staying with a friend in Dechmont, Broxburn, West Lothian, after breaking up with her partner.
When her friend left for work at 7.30am on Friday August 24, Ms McKay said she had no plans to go out that afternoon. But when another friend arrived to go house hunting with the 51-year-old, she was gone.
At around 1.30pm on Tuesday, police and mountain rescue found a body in woodland between the A89 just south of Dechmont and the M8 motorway at Livingston.
Members of the Border Search and Rescue were searching the area surrounding the West Lothian town as the care worker was a keen walker.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out to establish the identity but the family of Ms McKay have been informed.
Last week, her daughter, Andrea Waddell, son Kevin Waddell, and sister Deidre McKay, appealed for her to come home.
Ms Waddell had also set up a Facebook page and used Twitter to try and track her mother down.
