A man has died after the car he was travelling in crashed into a tree and flipped onto its roof.

The 25-year-old was a passenger in the car involved in the smash in West Lothian. The driver of the vehicle has been charged with drink-driving.

Emergency services treated the man at the scene where he was pronounced dead.

Three other passengers were taken to hospital after the crash on Drumcross Road in Bathgate at around 10pm on Thursday.

Police also confirmed the 41-year-old man who was driving the Volkswagen Passat has been arrested and charged with drink-driving.

Lothian and Borders Police confirmed the other people involved in the smash had sustained minor injuries.
