A footballer has appeared in court charged with attacking a taxi driver.

Dunfermline Athletic player Ryan Thomson is charged with assaulting the man in Glasgow's south side earlier this month.

The 21-year-old midfielder and Nicola Young, 21, are accused of conducting themselves in a threatening or abusive manner towards John Reilly.

They are accused of repeatedly punching and kicking the taxi driver on the head and body in Paisley Road West on August 12.

Thomson, of Pollok, is also accused of punching and kicking Mr Reilly's car causing damage to it.

They appeared from custody at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday and pled not guilty to the charges and released on bail with the special condition they cannot approach Mr Reilly.

They will return to court at a later date.
