The wife of the man accused of murdering missing bookkeeper Suzanne Pilley has been charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Andrea Gilroy, 42, who is a midwife, was charged on Friday after police searched the Edinburgh home she shares with David Gilroy, who appeared in court charged with Ms Pilley's murder on Thursday.

Mr Gilroy was released on bail following the court appearance after being detained by police earlier in the week. The couple have two children.

Suzanne Pilley, 38, from Stenhouse, has been missing for more than seven weeks after disappearing yards from where she worked at Infrastructure Managers in Edinburgh's Thistle Street on 4 May. Mr Gilroy also worked there.

He has previously admitted to having a relationship with Suzanne Pilley.
