Incumbent MP Ian Davidson has been re-elected to represent Glasgow South West. He has been an MP for the area since 1992 holding the seat of Glasgow Govan from 1992 to 1997, then Glasgow Pollok from 1997 to 2005. After further boundary changes, Mr Davidson was elected MP for Glasgow South West in 2005.
Mr Davidson was born in Jedburgh and attended Galashiels Academy. He was Chair of the National Organisation of Labour Students from 1973 to 1974.
He has worked as a Community Service Manager and for Janey Buchan while she was a Member of the European Parliament.
Mr Davidson is currently a member of the Public Accounts Select Committee and secretary of the Trade Union Group of Labour MPs. He is also the Chair of the Centre for a Social Europe and a member of the Scotland Office Select Committee.
