STV has launched its first iPhone app, providing viewers with instant access to the latest news, sport and video reports from Scotland's biggest media brand from their mobile phones.
The free application for Apple's mobile devices allows users in Scotland and across the globe to read the headlines at a glance or browse separate categories for the latest in news, sport, entertainment, as welll as lifestyle features and Scottish heritage.
It also features constantly updated weather forecasts - both for the next 24 hours and five days - for more than 75 towns across Scotland.
One of the key features is video reports from the STV News team accessible with a single click.
The free application is part of the broadcaster's ambitious digital strategy to make its content available on different platforms – anytime, anywhere.
Alistair Brown, Head of Digital at STV, said: "STV News content is hugely popular and we’re delighted to make this service available as an iPhone app, accessible to the 50 million iPhone users across the world. STV’s digital development is key to our strategy and we’re striving to make as much of our valuable content as readily and widely available as possible, across multiplatforms, so that viewers can access it where, when and how they want it.
"The STV News iPhone app, which is both simple and functional, was built in-house by the STV digital and broadcast team."
Apple's iPhone launched in June 2007 and it now has about 50 million users worldwide. A further 20 million users of the iPod Touch can also download applications.
