DAREDEVIL: Gean Hodsdon prepares for her white knuckle ride down the River Tay
She has two replacement knees, lives in a nursing home and normally walks with two sticks.
But daredevil granny Gean Hodsdon put her life in the hands of a rubber dinghy to raise money for a charity close to her heart.
The 90-year-old celebrated her birthday with the white-knuckle ride of her life careering down a gushing white-water river rapid on Friday.
Taking silver surfing to a new level, the fearless pensioner left her slippers behind and stuck an oar into the icy River Tay in the hope of raising £5,500 for a Moldovan children's camp in desperate need of a water pump.
If that wasn't courageous enough, Gean revealed how white-water rafting was her second choice birthday day-out, after her doctor banned her from sky diving.
Speaking after her adventure down Aberfeldy's meanest torrents, the brave OAP said she had "great fun."
She added: "Someone said I was just going to be going across the river but I made sure we went down some of the rapids. It was great fun and quite an eye-opener.
"I didn't realise how much safety gear I would have to put on. I like the water normally but this wasn't very peaceful, but my knees bore up fine after all."
She also thanked the staff at Dunolly Adventures for making her adventure possible.
She said: "I want to thank everyone who has donated money, my friends for taking me here and the staff.
"They got me in and out of the boat without getting too wet so I'm happy about that. Falling in would not have been nice.
"There is still ice on parts of the river so I'm sure it would have been pretty cold."
Speaking ahead of her adventure down Aberfeldy's meanest torrents, the brave OAP insisted she didn't want a "tame" birthday party.
She has spent the last 20 years lending her time as a volunteer for Blythswood Care and has visited Moldova and Romania in the past, but as she got older had to resort to sending shoeboxes of aid.
A fully qualified team at Dunolly Adventures kept a careful eye on the oldest participant they've ever had.
They normally deal with stag and hen parties looking for the wildest weekend Scotland can throw at them.
Margaret Tooth, area fundraising manager for Blysthwood Care, paid tribute to Gean's bravery.
She said: "Gean is a remarkable lady and we wish her a happy birthday on March 5.
"This money will greatly improve the facilities at the camp and we are keen to see her reach the target."
Around £650 has been raised so far.
