Family of missing Dundee woman plead for her safe return

The family of a missing Dundee woman have pleaded with anyone who knows where she is to come forward.

In an emotional interview with STV News, the sister of missing Mary McLaren told how she tried to warn police that her sister was being pestered for sex by a mystery man - but ended up being arrested herself.

And her tearful mother broke down as she told how much she loves her daughter.

The 34-year-old has been not been seen since the early hours of Thursday February 25 when she left Fat Sams nightclub in Dundee.

She was seen walking down the city's North Lindsay Street, Bell Street and Marketgait North with the mystery man, pictured in the CCTV images above, at around 3am that morning.

Police are desperate to trace this man, who is said to be central to their enquiries.

Speaking to STV News, Michelle Rodger, Mary's sister, claimed she had tried to warn the police that Mary was in danger.

She said: "I tried to exaplin everything to the police. I said that the man was going to take my sister away and I explained that she didn't want to go with him and she was crying and upset.

"My sister tried to pull me away from this man and was pulling me away from the police.

"I grabbed the police man because he wouldn't listen to me."

And Margaret McIntosh, Mary's mother, added: "Every night we worry and I feel I don't want to go on without my daughter.

"My heart is broken. I love her very, very much.

"I just want her to come home.  If anyone out there has my daughter I'm begging you please bring her home."

Chief Inspector Suzi Mertes, of Tayside Police, asked anyone with information to come forward.

She added: "We need to know who this man is and need him to come forward and tell us who he is and ask if he knows where Mary is now.

"We are in a missing persons inquiry and we don't know what has happened to her.

"We don't have any further sightings and we need people to come forward and tell us what has happened."
