The fiancee of Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor has been charged with wasting police time. Exclusive footage shows the moment a grim-faced McGregor and Leah Shevlin return to their Glasgow home, just hours after she was arrested.
Model Shevlin, 27, has since been reported to the procurator fiscal. McGregor is believed to have been at training with his club when police arrived at their home in Glasgow's Park Circus to arrest her.
STV understands that Strathclyde Police are now no longer investigating an alleged attack on McGregor, 28. He suffered a black eye and back injury after the alleged attack in Glasgow city centre in the early hours of Sunday, February 21. McGregor had been questioned by police multiple times over the incident.
Shevlin had earlier told police she had discovered McGregor injured outside their flat.
Police had seized CCTV footage from lap-dancing bar Seventh Heaven, near to where McGregor claims he was attacked. They also looked at CCTV from near the couple's luxury apartment in the city's Park district.
A spokesman for Strathclyde Police said: "A 27-year-old female is subject of a report to the procurator fiscal for wasting the time of police."
BACKGROUND
It later emerged that Shevlin has lodged an official complaint with the force's chief constable over the behaviour of officers towards her. The complaint alleges that they made repeated inappropriate and personal comments after arriving at her home to arrest her.
