Police are appealing for help in finding a vulnerable youngster who has been missing from Paisley since Thursday.

Jay Mitchell was last seen by staff at Kibble Residential School, on Goudie Street, about 4pm.

The 15-year-old has not been found despite extensive enquiries, said Strathclyde Police.

The teenager is described as 5ft 9in, slim build, with brown hair and green eyes. He has an English accent and was wearing black tracksuit trousers and a grey and black top.

He is known to have acquaintances in Elgin, Corby and London.

Inspector Colin MacAllister, of Strathclyde Police, said: "I would appeal to anyone who may have seen Jay, anyone who may know of his movements since Thursday 25 February 2010 or his current whereabouts, to contact police or to contact a friend or relative to let us know that he is safe."

Anyone with information can contact officers at Paisley Police Office on telephone number 0141 532 5900.
