Police: Gunmen target east end flat

Two men fired shots into a flat in the east end of Glasgow with five people inside.

The incident, which police said did not appear to be random, happened at the ground floor flat in Shettleston Road, near Culross Street, about 2pm on Monday.

None of the adults in the house were injured but were left badly shaken, said a Strathclyde Police spokesman.

Minor damage was caused inside the property.

The suspects ran off along Shettleston Road towards Baillieston before turning right into Culross Street in Shettleston.

Both men are white, of muscular build, in their 30s with local accents. They had their faces covered.

One was 6ft, wearing a black hooded jacket and black jogging trousers.

The other is around 6ft 1in, wearing a black zipped jacket with a white T- shirt underneath and black jogging trousers.

Detective Sergeant Eddie Waye, of Strathclyde Police, said the incident did not appear to be random.

He said: "Our enquiries, so far, indicate that the property was deliberately targeted and that this was not a random act.

"Fortunately, no-one in the flat was injured, albeit the residents have all been left very badly traumatised."

"I would appeal to anyone, who was in the area of Shettleston Road near Culross Street around 2pm on Monday, who may have seen the suspects or, who can provide any information at all, which might help us with our enquiries, to come forward."

Witnesses are asked to contact Shettleston Police Office on telephone number 0141 532 4800.
