Victim: Man in court over Ann Geddes' murder
A man has appeared in court in connection with the murder of a 63-year-old woman in Carnoustie.
The body of Ann Geddes was found after Tayside Police were called to a house in the town's Panbridge Road shortly before 4pm on Sunday.
In a statement, Mrs Geddes's family said: "Ann Geddes was a much loved mother, daughter, sister, aunt and niece.
"She had a personally satisfying career in midwifery with in the heath service, training at Elsie Inglis in Edinburgh, rising to become head of midwifery at St James Hospital, Leeds.
"She retired back to her home town of Carnoustie six years ago where she enjoyed the company of her life long friends, golfing and was an active member of the congregation at Carnoustie Church. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
"The family would appreciate their privacy being respected at this difficult time."
A mobile command unit was parked outside the cordoned-off property and a uniformed officer stood guard at the front gate, while white-suited forensic teams carried out work around and inside the house.
The curtains of the white painted pebble-dashed bungalow in Panbride Road remained open and officers could be seen inside taking photographs and gathering evidence.
Officers investigating the death said it was currently being treated as suspicious and inquiries were continuing.
The 63-year-old man appeared at Arbroath Sheriff Court charged with Ms Geddes' murder.
