A frail 75-year-old woman has been robbed of £500 as she walked in Dundee’s Hill Street.
The incident happened at around 9am as she was walking on the pavement near the cross roads with Bruce Street.
She had been out buying her morning newspaper when she was approached by a woman who snatched her brown clutch style woven purse from her hand before making off down Reid Street.
The woman responsible was wearing a black jacket with a hood, light coloured jeans, and black trainers.
Detective Constable Paul Riley said: "This has been a particularly cowardly theft from a very frail and partially sighted woman who walks with the assistance of sticks.
"Thankfully she has not been physically injured as a result of this incident but she is visibly shaken and distressed.
"We are currently carrying out door to door enquiries in the area and reviewing both public and private CCTV in a bid to identify the woman responsible.
"I would urge anyone who has any information regarding this crime to get in touch with us."
A police spokesman added: "Anyone who witnessed the incident take place, or anyone who thinks they may know who is responsible, should get in touch with Tayside Police on 0300 111 2222 or speak to any police officer.
"Information can also be passed on anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
