Rail route still disrupted after derailment

Rail services between Inverness and Aviemore are still disrupted following the derailment of a freight train on Monday.

Passengers are alternatively being bussed along the route until the accident is cleared, said ScotRail.

A rail worker suffered minor injuries after part of the train derailed near Carrbridge station, blocking the passenger train route.

A number of empty wagons toppled onto tracks at around 4.05pm at the station in Inverness-shire. The locomotive was hauling eight bogies.

The Inverness-London Caledonian Sleeper Service sleeper has also been rerouted via Aberdeen due to the derailment. The service is also closed to further reservations until January 10.
