Thailand's tourist board is using a picture of a Scottish beach to promote one of its luxury resorts.

Bermerary beach, off Harris, on the west coast of Scotland, is featured on promotional material.

Thai Tourist Board have used a picture of the Scots beach to promote one of its luxury resorts - at Kai Bae in Koh Chang.

The Thai resort sits in the Indian Ocean and is currently basking in temperatures of 32 degrees.

Both locations do enjoy white sandy beaches but on closer inspection the Scottish location does expose rugged hills.

A spokesperson for the Thai Tourist Board said they were "unsure" how the picture came to be used.

Riddell Graham, of VisitScotland, said: ''There's no surprise if countries throughout the world are looking for the best scenery, they're going to find Scotland coming right up there in their search engines as they're going round the web.

"And I suspect this won't be the first and it won't be the last. Scotland will always be up there and we're delighted.''
