A pensioner has been reliving the terrifying moment she was viciously mugged.

81 year old Nan Davidson suffered broken bones and was left lying in agony.

But the feisty grandmother said she didn't let her attacker escape without putting up a fight.

Mrs Davidson now faces a long recovery in Dundee's Ninewells Hospital after the attack left her with a broken hip and arm and severe bruising.

She told STV News: "I kent I'd broken my shoulder or dislocated my arm. I was balling and shouting. I wouldn't wish it on anybody."

Mrs Davidson had been returning home to her sheltered housing complex from the shops when she was grabbed from behind by a man.

 He threw her to the ground and snatched her handbag, leaving her lying on the pavement in agony.

He was last seen running off towards Albert Street.

But the feisty pensioner said she didn't let him go without putting up a fight.

"He must have been loitering about and of course coming from the grocers they ken you've got a purse with some money in it and that's what he wanted.

"I ken he pulled us down because I was fighting with him. You put up a fight? I wasn't going to let him get my money."

Police officers have been carrying out enquiries in the area.

Her attacker is described as being aged between 20 and 30 years old, 5 foot 7 tall and was wearing dark clothing.
