Students head for world's biggest fashion event

A group of fashion students from Dundee College are heading for the catwalk at the world's biggest fashion and beauty event.

Having had a successful "premiere" at last year's show, this year will see their work appearing on the catwalk each day of the Clothes Show Live event in Birmingham.

The lucky six HND Textiles students who will see their creations worn by professional models at the NEC are 20-year-olds Amy Stevenson,  Karen Stitchell, Ruby Coyne all from Dundee, Lucy Burt from Edinburgh, Emma McMahon from Manchester and Morven Leenhouts from Glasgow.

The students have a total of eight outfits being modelled on the catwalk - three times a day for the duration of the event which runs from next Friday until Wednesday December 9.

Senior Lecturer Tracey Stewart said: "The students have been working very hard to prepare for this event, creating garments since last spring in a bid to see their work at such a prestigious forum."

The invitation to showcase their work has come after a successful trip south last year, when a selection of student's work was exhibited at the event's Dundee College stand.

There will also be a selection of work from HNC/D textiles on display at this year's "College Forum" which showcases up and coming talent.
