Scots businessman Sir Tom Hunter is to receive an honorary degree from the University of Edinburgh on Wednesday.
The entrepreneur and philanthropist will receive his Honorary Degree of Doctor honoris causa in a ceremony at the McEwan Hall.
Sir Tom sold his first business, Sports Division, for £290m in 1998 at the age of 37.
He had built the business from scratch - starting by selling trainers out of the back of a van - over a 14-year period to become Europe's premier privately held sports retailer.
Sir Tom later co-founded The Hunter Foundation - which donates cash to educational and entrepreneurial projects in Scotland - in 1998 with his wife Marion and founded the private equity partnership, West Coast Capital, in 2001.
The Hunter Foundation is committed to venture philanthropy - investing capital and intellect into tackling the root causes of societal problems through holistic and systemic interventions.
