A Scottish trade delegation is this week hoping to secure new international business opportunities and export orders in South Africa.
The trade mission - made up of representatives of Scots businesses and organisations - will visit Johannesburg and Cape Town on a five-day trip organised by the Scottish Council for Development and Industry (SCDI).
Organisations participating in the visit programme include universities and further education colleges as well as businesses operating in sectors such as IT and healthcare.
The South African market offers wide-ranging opportunities to Scottish businesses and organisations seeking to internationalise - particularly as the country plays host to the FIFA World Cup next year.
The South African government has embarked on a 10-year capital expenditure programme worth more than £50billion and targeting power and transport sectors. International expertise has been encouraged over a range of sectors including water, airports, ports, healthcare, IT and education.
SCDI Chair, Shonaig Macpherson, who is leading SCDI’s South Africa trade delegation, said: “We look forward to seeing at first hand the potential commercial links we can establish between Scotland and South Africa.
"The trade mission is designed to help participants achieve their individual objectives, supported by a framework of expert and practical advice, and to accelerate the process of developing successful and sustainable business in the market.
