The former comrades of a soldier killed in Afghanistan three years ago are preparing to officially open a new drop-in centre set up in his memory.
The Mark Wright Centre for veterans will open its doors on Saturday to offer help and support to troops who have had their career cut short through physical or emotional injury.
The facility in Dalkeith has been created by Mark's parents, Bob and Jem Wright.
They said they wanted to do something in their son's memory after he died while trying to save the lives of other in a minefield three years ago. He was posthumously awarded the George Cross for his extreme bravery.
On Friday, Mark's former colleagues toured the facility ahead of the official launch.
Paul Hartley, a medic who tried to save Mark's life, said: "Mark was the bravest person I ever had the honour of working with, followed by his Mum and Dad, setting up this necessary charity in his name. I would like to thank them for sponsoring my own treatment".
The ribbon will be cut by Mark's commanding officer from Afghanistan, Colonel Stuart Tootal. He said: "The Mark Wright Project Drop-in Centre is both exciting and worthy, and will making a real difference to the ex servicemen and women who are so deserving of our support."
The centre provides an informal setting for men and women injured in conflict to share their challenges and be given practical assistance.
It is funded entirely by donations and will work alongside other organisations and military charities, like Veterans First Point, Combat Stress and poppyscotland, to ensure that veterans receive coordinated, timely and effective support.
Corporal Mark Wright's parents say they want to ensure a sense of comradeship continues for troops who are forced to return to Scotland prematurely.
Bob Wright said: "I think Mark would be proud of us, creating something positive that will help our lads and lassies".
