Bad weather leaves commuters facing major delays

Commuters across the central belt were facing heavy delays and cancellations on Friday.

It followed heavy rain throughout Thursday, which left some Scots routes waterlogged and increased traffic on the East Coast line.

There were no trains between Glasgow and Dunblane on Friday morning, while the line between Edinburgh and the town was offering a reduced hourly service.

Services between Glasgow and Edinburgh were also affected, with a reduced service running every 30 minutes.

Trains were running hourly between the capital and Bathgate.

Flooding closed the West Coast line between Carlisle and Carstairs. Other journey times were extended by an hour.
