A teenager had his £1600 bicycle stolen while he was getting back to his feet after falling off it.

Police in Dundee are appealing for information after the 15-year-old boy's grey-coloured Specialized FSR mountain bike was stolen in the Douglas area of the city.

The boy was cycling sometime between between 6.30-6.45pm and had reached the junction of Balerno Street and Ballindean Road when he pulled the brakes too sharply and fell off.

As he was getting back to his feet, a man cycled up from the direction the teenager had come from, jumped from his own silver Magnum mountain bike and stole the boy's expensive cycle.

The thief cycled away along Balerno Street and was last seen turning left into Balbeggie Street and towards Balunie Avenue.

He is described as being about 5'11" tall, slim and at the time was wearing a black-coloured tammy, black Adidas tracksuit bottoms, a black-coloured hooded top and a pair of white trainers.

A Tayside Police spokesman said: "Anyone who saw him or who has information that could assist enquiries should call 0300 111 2222, or speak to any officer."
