Train services in Tayside are getting back underway following severe floods in the area - but Network Rail say the restoration of a full timetable is still days away.
All rail services running between Montrose and Aberdeen were halted following torrential rain on Sunday that washed away around 2000 tons of earth from an embankment north of the Angus town.
Passengers were transferred to buses to complete their journeys, causing huge delays and adding considerably to journey times.
However, after five days of work, one of the two tracks on the line has reopened on Friday - allowing a skeleton service to resume.
Although the embankment affected was not directly underneath the tracks, it was adjacent - leading to fears that the line may have become unstable.
A full service is expected to resume early next week.
A spokesperson for Network Rail said: "Services between Dundee and Aberdeen will begin a limited service on Friday morning as work continues to repair a line-side 'wash-away' at Logie.
"Up to 2000 tons of material became dislodged during severe flooding earlier this week.
"Single-line working will allow a limited service to run over this section of track until Tuesday next week, when services are expected to return to normal."
The Aberdeen to Inverness line, which has also been disrupted by the weekend’s floods, is expected to re-enter service tomorrow.
