More than 200 off-licence workers in Scotland are to lose their jobs before Christmas after their employer went bust.
Adminstrators for the First Quench sales group have told STV news they are to close 53 of the firm's 219 Scottish shops.
Branches of Threshers, Wine Rack, The Local, Haddows, Bottoms Up and Victoria Wine across the country are affected. They include 11 in Glasgow, eight in Edinburgh, seven in Aberdeen and two in Dundee.
Forty-five stores will close their doors on November 25 while eight stores will remain open until December 2, depending on stock levels.
The 240 workers affected are to receive statutory redundancy payments.
In total, administration firm KPMG are to close 373 stores across the UK, resulting in 1,738 redundancies.
Joint Administrator Richard Fleming from KPMG said: , UK Head of Restructuring at KPMG, and joint administrator, commented:
“Unfortunately, after reviewing the viability of the store network, 373 loss-making stores are to be closed.
“As part of the closure programme, liquidation sales will take place at each of the stores scheduled to be closed with the stock being sold off at a discount from Friday 6th November.”
Mr Fleming also insisted he was confident KPMG would find a buyer for the remaining 166 Scottish stores.
