A teenage pedestrian has been killed after being struck by a van on a main road in Perthshire.
The 17-year-old male was crossing a notorious stretch of the A9 road near Pitlochry when he was hit by the van.
Emergency services rushed to the scene after a report was received of the collision from another motorist.
However, despite the efforts of paramedics, the teenager died at the scene.
The van driver was examined at the roadside by paramedics but did not require hospital treatment.
The teenager has not yet been named by police.
A spokesman for Tayside Police said: "At about 5.40pm on Tuesday November 4 Tayside Police and Ambulance personnel were called to a Road Traffic Accident on A9, south bound carriageway, at the south end of Pitlochry involving a motor vehicle and a male pedestrian.
"Unfortunately on arrival at the locus it was discovered that the pedestrian had died as a result of his injuries.
"Tayside Police are continuing their enquiries and request that anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who were travelling at the locus about that time contact them on 0300 111 2222."
