A man is being treated in hospital after he was involved in a road crash as he travelled on his moped.
Tayside Police say an enquiry is underway following the accident on the B954 Auchterhouse road near Burnhead Farm on the outskirts of Dundee.
The crash occurred at around 9.50pm on Thursday.
Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the young male rider, who was wearing a red top and black and white crash helmet while riding the yellow moped.
They are keen to speak to the driver or passengers of a 4x4 type vehicle seen near to the locus.
A spokesman for Tayside Police said: "The male was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee where is injuries were described as serious.
"Anyone with any information in relation to this incident is asked to contact Tayside Police on 0300 111 2222, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 "
