A hand-written manuscript for Charles Darwin's 'On the Origin of Species' is going on display in Edinburgh.

The document is being featured as part of an exhibition at Edinburgh University which explores how Darwin's career was influenced by his time as a medical student at the institution.

The display also features a signed class ticket for university anatomy lectures alongside a selection of paintings, busts and a death mask.

'Darwin's Edinburgh' is being held in a gallery room which previously held the College Museum of Natural History, where the famous evolutionist learnt about taxidermy.

A second exhibition, 'An Entangled bank' is also running at the Talbot Rice Gallery, featuring work by five contemporary artists who have interpreted Darwin's ideas in their work.

The exhibition will be officially opened on Saturday.
