Ship builders on the Clyde are preparing for the launch of the Royal Navy's latest anti-air warfare destroyer.
The Type 45 ship, to be named Defender, which will take to the water at BVT Surface Fleet's Govan shipyard, is designed to protect ships from attacks by aircraft while at sea.
Defender is the fifth of a fleet of six destroyers to be built.
The launch will also feature a helicopter display by the Royal Marines and the ceremony will be broadcast live to the transport Museum in Glasgow, where visitors to the museum can watch the event on big screens.
The new ship is being affiliated with Glasgow and Exeter, and the launch ceremony will be performed by Lady Massey, wife of Vice Admiral Sir Alan Massey, with the Lord Mayor of Exeter also expected to attend the launch.
The Royal Navy decides on who to honour with the title of sponsor, in this case Lady Massey, and which city or cities the ship is affiliated to.
