Police in Hamilton are investigating an indecent assault on a teenager by an elderly man on Friday October 16 in High Blantyre.
At around 5.20pm the 13-year-old girl was walking on a pathway near to Blakeleys Bar in Main Street, High Blantyre when a man approached her from behind, put his arm around her and indecently assaulted her.
The girl managed to break free and run away to raise the alarm.
The suspect is described as being in his 60s with a pale complexion and receding or balding hair. He was wearing a khaki coloured polo shirt and trousers and smelt strongly of alcohol.
Detective Constable Neil Wilson from Strathclyde Police said: "This was a very traumatic experience for this young girl who was only a few metres away from the main road when the incident occurred. She did not hear the man creeping up behind her as she was listening to music through earphones at the time.
"I'd like to speak to anyone who either recognises the description of the man involved or anyone who may have seen him hanging around Main Street, High Blantyre during the course of the day."
