Man left with broken eye socket following Edinburgh attack

A 19-year-old man was left with a broken eye socket following a brutal assault in Edinburgh.

He was walking through the meadows with friends on Sunday when they were approached by another group and assaulted.

The victim and his friends attempted fled to Buccleuch Terrace but were followed. The victim then fell and was kicked in the head.

The suspects ran off before police arrived, while their victim was taken to the ERI.

Police are now appealing for information about the man's assailants.

The first suspect is described as male, between 17 and 20, between 5'10" and 6'1" tall with a skinny build and short dark hair. He was described as being of Asian appearance, with a Scottish accent, and was wearing a red 'Lyle and Scott' v-neck cardigan and jeans.

The second assailant is described as male, white, between 19 and 20, with a medium build and was wearing dark clothes.

And the third suspect is described as male, white, 6ft, around 20-years-old with a slim build and shaved head. He was wearing a grey 'Lyle and Scott' jumper.

A police spokesman said: “This was an unprovoked assault that has left one man with a particularly painful and serious injury to his eye socket.

“Anyone who was in either the Meadows or Buccleuch Terrace from around 11.55pm and has information that can help with our enquiries should contact police immediately.

“Similarly, anyone who recognises the description of the suspects should also come forward.”
