Organisers of a Dundee music festival have guaranteed an international audience for the event - after offering free tickets and accommodation to the people travelling furthest to the event.
Fiona and Geoff Fleming took up the challenge - and have won a free pass for the Fest 'n' Furious event and three nights' accommodation at a top Dundee hotel.
The couple are to travel over 10,000 miles from Mackay in North Queensland, Australia to attend the festival in what will be their first ever trip to Scotland.
The event runs from Friday October 2 to Sunday October 4 - and features events including concerts from top Scots bands including Hotseats, pictured above, workshops and the Great Homecoming Ceilidh - with events taking place simaltanously in seven Dundee community centres.
Fiona said she and her husband had planned their trip around the festival because they wanted to learn more about their Scottish roots.
She said: "After over 20 hours in a plane, we're technically 'coming home' as my husband Geoff has ancestors in Glasgow and the friends we're travelling with have roots in Kirriemuir and Aberdeen.
"We were always planning to come to Scotland to discover our roots and, when we read about Fest 'n' Furious on the web and the fantastic programme on offer, we realised we just had to be there, so planned our itinerary around the event.
"We love folk festivals and this will be a great opportunity to see and hear traditional Scottish music and explore the Scottish culture."
Fiona's husband Geoff and their travelling companion Keith Ogilvie play in Australian/Celtic band Hullabaloo and, although they didn't bring any instruments to Scotland, he's not ruling out an impromptu performance if the opportunity arises.
He added: "We're really looking forward to the Great Homecoming Ceilidh but are basically planning to pack in as much as possible and make the most of this coming weekend."
Emily Dewhurst, Music Development Officer at Dundee Council said: "It really is remarkable, and a credit to everyone involved, that an event which started out as a small and low-key festival exactly five years ago has now reached the other side of the world.
"With Fest 'n' Furious providing the finale to Dundee's Homecoming Week, it's particularly apt to be welcoming Australians with Scottish ancestors and we hope they have a fantastic time in Dundee."
