A learner driver has died after a head-on crash during a driving lesson.
Suzanne Harkness, 22, from Galashields sustained "serious injuries" when the driving school vehicle hit a car travelling in the opposite direction.
She was taken to hospital but died shortly after arrival.
Another two people were kept overnight in hospital and treated for serious injuries, which are not thought to be life threatening, a Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said.
The accident happened shortly after 6pm on Wednesday on the A6091 Melrose Bypass in the Scottish Borders.
