Teenager treated in hospital after 'unprovoked' attack by woman in street

Assault: Officers are investigating the street attack.

A young woman was treated in hospital following an “unprovoked” assault at the weekend in Moray.

Grampian Police said it was investigating the attack on the teenager on Queen Street, in Buckie, between 7.30pm and 8pm on Sunday.

The 18-year-old was taken to Dr Gray's Hospital in Elgin where she was treated for minor head and body injuries.

Police said the woman attacker was described as being around 17 years of age, 5ft 4in tall, medium to heavy build, with long blonde hair which was tied-up in a messy bun and was wearing a blue tracksuit trousers and a body warmer.

She was in the company of another woman described as being about 40 years of age with light brown hair that was tied up.

Investigating Officer Constable Ian Fraser said: "This incident appears to be an unprovoked attack and the victim was left very shaken and upset.

"The assailant and the other woman are believed to have walked over Victoria Bridge on West Church Street before turning right onto Queen Street.

"A Stagecoach bus is believed to have been passing Victoria Bridge at the time and occupants of this bus may have seen these women and may be able to identify them."
