Five men have been arrested in connection with offensive singing at a recent Brechin v Rangers clash.
Following a joint police operation on Friday officers from the national Football Co-ordination Unit for Scotland (FoCUS) made the arrests.
Around 7am officers attended at Charlotte Gardens in Aberdeen and arrested a 25-year-old man.
As part of the operation, a further three men were arrested in the Strathclyde area. A 27-year-old man was arrested in Kirkton Avenue, Blantyre, and a 28-year-old man was arrested in Main Street, Largs. A further man, aged 28, was also arrested in Blantyre. ! 22-year-old man was also arrested in Newton Stewart.
The arrests follow a retrospective investigation carried out by FoCUS officers following an incident at the Brechin v Rangers game on Sunday.
The FoCUS unit was assisted by officers from Grampian Police, Strathclyde and Tayside.
A full capacity crowd of more than 4100 people attended the match which took place at Glebe Park, Brechin.
Extra-time saw Rangers overcome Brechin 2-1 in the Ramsdens Cup.
A spokesman for Tayside Police said the crowd were generally in good spirits as the game moved into extra time and the atmosphere was excellent but that a minority tried to disrupt the game by setting off smoke bombs and singing offensive songs.
