Woman accused of picking up four-year-old and throwing her at man

A woman is accused of picking up and throwing a four-year-old girl at a man.

Tammy Redford is alleged to have picked up the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, by her body and thrown her at her father at an address in Dundee.

Prosecutors say Redford "wilfully ill treated" the girl in a "manner likely to cause her unnecessary suffering or injury to health".

Redford faces further charges that she assaulted the man by seizing him by the throat and repeatedly punching him on the head.

She also faces a third charge that she behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by repeatedly shouting and swearing at the man and another woman "in a manner likely to cause fear or alarm".

The incidents are said to have taken place on May 10 this year.

Redford, 22, from Dundee, was not in court to face the charges against her on Friday.

Fiscal depute Gillian Sim told Dundee Sheriff Court prosecutors had received a letter from Redford's lawyers.

She said: "They are asking for a continuation without plea for a period of two weeks."

Sheriff Jamie Gilchrist continued the case until August 10.
