Police investigate attempted murder in Glasgow

Strathclyde Police are investigating an attempted murder in Glasgow.

The police have said a 45-year-old man was deliberately struck by a car in Barmulloch on Wednesday.

The man was standing on a footpath in Red Road with two male friends around 2.30pm when it would appear that a gold coloured Volvo car deliberately mounted the pavement and struck him before driving off.

The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was removed by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he is receiving treatment.  Medical staff have describe his condition as "serious but stable".

The car was later traced in the Germiston area and was forensically examined by officers.

Detective Inspector John Kennedy is the officer in charge of the investigation.

He said: "We are treating the incident as attempted murder. I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who can help us identify the driver to come forward and help us with our enquiries."
