A man threatened and assaulted a woman during an attempted robbery on a post office in Tullibody, Clackmannanshire.
Central Scotland Police have appealed for witnesses after an employee at the Stirling Road premises was targeted.
The incident happened at around 8.50pm on Monday.
A spokeswoman for the force said: "A man entered the post office in Stirling Road, threatened the employee and demanded money. Fortunately the woman was not injured and the man left without any money."
The man has been described as 21-40 years old, slim build, 5ft 5ins to 5ft 10ins tall with a local accent.
He had tanned skin, dark eyes and was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt with black lettering across the chest and black tracksuit bottoms.
