A sex attacker was caught after his footprints were discovered close to where he tried to rape a woman.
Grzegorz Budach had grabbed his victim as she made her way to a party in Lochee, Dundee, last September.
She only managed to escape from the 24 year-old after striking him with a stone before a passer-by took her to a police station.
Budach admitted a charge of attempted rape when he appeared at the High Court in Glasgow on Thursday.
He was placed on the sex offenders register and will be sentenced next month.
The woman was on her way to a bar with friends on September 17 when Budach was spotted outside looking upset.
She went over to speak to the Polish-born baker, who began shouting at her.
Prosecutor Shirley McKenna said Budach, of Hawthornden Place, Edinburgh, then grabbed her in a "fireman's lift" towards nearby bushes.
He started hitting his victim before putting his hand over her mouth.
Miss McKenna added: "She was panicking and extremely scared. She felt that she could not breathe. The woman managed to hit Budach, which let her get her mobile phone, but the attacker snatched it and threw it away. During the ordeal, Budach forced his victim to carry out a sex act. However, she then got hold of a stone and lashed out allowing her escape. A passer-by came to her aid and helped her alert police. She was only wearing one shoe and her tights were torn off. Budach was later quizzed in connection with the attack and a heavily mud-stained top, jeans and trainers were found at his then home in Dundee."
She added: "Footprints were found in the mud (near to the scene of the incident) - these matched the trainers worn by the accused at the time of the offence."
The victim was said to have suffered bruising and abrasions as a result of the attack.
Judge Lord Bannatyne remanded Budach in custody and deferred sentencing until August 16 at the High Court in Edinburgh.
