A man was seriously assaulted in an unprovoked late-night attack in Glenrothes.
The attack happened in the Tanshall area of the town at around 11pm on Friday, according to Fife Constabulary.
Officers are now urging anyone with information to get in touch with them.
Detectives said the man was assaulted near Keith Drive.
Detective inspector Stuart Morris said: "This was a callous and unprovoked attack which we are treating very seriously and I would urge anyone with knowledge or information regarding the incident to contact us."
