A teenager who tortured and sexually abused a young student during an attack in an empty flat has been jailed for nine months.
Callum MacDonald, 17, attacked the 17-year-old man at a property in Glasgow city centre in January 2011.
He and an accomplice, 18-year-old Kyle Cannell, were caught after police obtained a mobile phone photograph of the pair holding a knife to their victim's throat.
Officers then discovered that the pair also sexually abused the student, who cannot be named for legal reasons.
MacDonald, of Argyle Street, Glasgow, was sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh on Friday after pleading guilty to the charge at an earlier hearing.
On the earlier occasion, the court heard from prosecution lawyer Alan MacKay who explained that Cannell, who is also known as Kyle Geddes, knew the victim and had been quite protective of him.
The two accused were at the flat with him when they started threatening the teenager with a knife, forcing him to hand over his mobile phone. They then proceeded to attack him and subject him to sexual abuse.
When Cannell and part-time hairdresser MacDonald finally let their victim go, they warned him he would be assaulted if he told anyone.
Passing sentence, judge Lord Tyre also ordered MacDonald to be supervised by the authorities for two years upon his release from jail.
He told MacDonald, who has already been placed on the sex offenders register, that reports that had been commissioned by the court showed that MacDonald had not expressed remorse for attacking the young man.
Lord Tyre added: "It was a sustained and vicious attack. You have displayed a disturbing lack of remorse and disrespect for the suffering of your victim."
His fellow attacker Cannell, of Troon, Ayrshire, received two years probation at an earlier hearing.
