Two more charged with violent disorder after Rangers clashes

Another two men have been charged with violent disorder after clashes between police and Rangers fans at last year's Uefa Cup Final.

Michael Hindle, 20, from Chorley in Lancashire is charged with one count of violent disorder and John Saunders, 31, from Cumbernauld is charged  with two counts of violent disorder.

About 150,000 Rangers fans travelled to Manchester city centre for the match between Rangers and Zenit St Petersburg on May 14 2008.

But there were Violent scenes at an open-air screening of the match when a big screen in Piccadilly Gardens failed to show the game.

Groups of supporters clashed with police in a five-hour battle, with officers suffering dislocated shoulders, broken fingers, and bruising.

The pair are due to appear before Manchester City Magistrates on August 10.

They will appear alongside Scott McSeveney, 21, from Shotts in North Lanarkshire, who is charged with a Section 47 assault against Pc John Goodwin, and Mark Stoddart, 25, from Glasgow, who faces the same charge but against Pc Mick Regan.

Both of these men are also charged with violent disorder, along with Brian McVicar, 19, from East Kilbride.
